Raise the Game: Parc del Poblenou

In partnership with NBA, Foot Locker have launched another court this time at Barcelona’s Poblenou court. This the first of three additional European court being refurbished this summer, aiming to provide infrastructure to grow the local game.

Foot Locker has also partnered with local talent, including visual artists, grassroots teams and players from the city to bring the game back to the community in a series of initiatives from May onwards.

The recently launched Poblenou court is in a diverse, creative and modern neighbourhood of Barcelona. With this fresh refurbished court, it will grow into with its new identity. The court was designed by local artist Juan Ramón Guerrero, known as ‘Jotaerre’. He took his inspiration from a summertime day in Barcelona playing basketball outside. Its color blocking is a nod to the sunrise and the sunset in the city, sharing space with the words “community & hope,” or ‘esperança’ in Catalan.

This court aims to support the local players, connecting with the community through sports. This location has two full courts in the same location, offering more space for the game and the community. The popular neighborhood champions modernity and inclusivity, combining a focus on sports and contemporary art, and now has a renovated area that positively improves the quality of the court for the players to thrive.
