He has done so through his website Hoopsfix.com with news, videos, features podcasts and more, along with the annual Hoopsfix All-Star Classic in Brixton, a junior showcase of top basketball talent in the country. Foot Locker has chosen Brixton, in London, as its basketball community, to help spread the love of the game and the values that it carries with it. Here you will find out everything you want to know about our Brixton local insiders. We have teamed up with Sam Neter and Sevian, two leading representatives for local basketball, to support our projects in the area.

Sevian

Sevian

Sevian stands as a mentor and female inspiration in the Basketball community, which is heavily dominated by men. She plays ball, coaches as part of London Youth Games and has been Nike’s go to ambassador for the sport in campaigns both locally and globally. Sevian has also turned her passion into art pieces where she brings the culture of basketball off the court. She is working with Foot Locker & the NBA to design the bespoke South London Kits that will be donated to a local youth centre as part of the court refurbishment plans in 2021. "My discipline comes from basketball"

Art inspired by the game plays a big part in helping off-court basketball culture thrive. Artists across the world are driven by the legends and stories of the NBA. From Kobe murals to illustrations mixing Japanese art and basketball, we celebrate people that find the inspiration to raise their game in the crossover between sport and creativity. We are proud to introduce you to two such people and their incredible work.

We have two hot artists going head to head in the paint, creating six custom NBA basketballs inspired by teams and their cities. Representing London we have Harky and for Paris, Shaz. Both are inspired by basketball culture and are raising their game by taking on a fresh new challenge for their creative expression, turning their canvas into a sphere. We’re looking forward to seeing some quite different ball skills from these guys.

HARKY

HARKY

Harkiran Kalsi is an energetic and exciting artist who uses her art to bring positive vibes and uplift people. Her work is an exciting blend of graphic design, murals, illustration and freehand typography. She is heavily influenced by the New York art scene and graffiti, her unique bubble style created as by her own admission she never really got the hang of tagging. That sums Harky up, someone who likes to find her own creative expression by breaking the rules. She happily quotes Kobe as a big influence “Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise”. She likes to use her platform to shine a light where it matters. “The Purpose is bigger than myself, it’s all about the people I can be of service to, so it’s my duty to make sure I can somehow change the world for the better.”
